America is a beautiful place that attracts people from all over the world. We came to America to work and study. Some of our parents had better job opportunties here. We didn't have a lot of time to get ready for the journey, because our parents didn't know that we would be able to go until the last minute. They also wanted us to learn English, since that opens up a lot of possibilities for us in the future. The plane ride from Egypt was relatively easy. We were able to fly straight to New York City.
We left our family, friends, dog, school, church, house, neighbors, and many memories. We can communicate with our loved ones by telephone, e-mail, or instant messaging. We miss them a lot, but we try to remember that we only need to take a plane to visit them.
We like many things in the U.S. We like the way that everything is organized, including our new school. We like the celebration of different holidays. There's a lot of cultural diversity in the U.S., and we get to learn many new things. We also like the clean, tidy places and lots of trees and plants that we found here. This was different for us because we come from a very big city. We found the freedom in America to practice our religion and say anything that is on our minds.
